As you choose your meals today consider that when people decrease the amount of meat, dairy, eggs and greasy foods on their plate their nutrition improves dramatically. Also, when you replace meat with beans and vegetables you get a lot of fiber that will keep you slim and lower your cholesterol. You get antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that protect against disease. Basically you get more of what you want in your diet (fiber, beta-carotene, magnesium, folate etc.) and less of what you don’t want (fat and cholesterol).
If you count calories or carbs or fat grams you may or may not improve your diet but if you switch to a whole food, plant based, no free oil diet you will be eating the nutrients that you need. Your body will say “Thank you” and reward you with better health. So… what’s for lunch? I’ll have a veggie pizza. Yes!
