31 Isaiah 55:2

Good Morning,

“Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare” (Isaiah 55:2 NIV).

Some of our “fast food” restaurants serve foods that are 40% – 75% fat!! Wait a minute… we said we wanted to eat less than 15% or maybe less than 12% fat. Most of that “fast-food” fat is made up of meats, cheese and other animal products that are full of saturated fat and are a very high health risk.

Americans spend 50% of their food dollars eating in fast food restaurants. (Well, I know for sure that there are people who spend more than that because we don’t go to fast food restaurants, do we?) Remember what we said about nutrition labels… we look at the fat calories per serving (to find the percentage of fat in the food) and then we look at the sodium to be sure that the sodium (in mg) is no more than the number of calories. Take a look at these examples with that in mind:

These items are not the only items that a person would order for their meal. They would order a drink, fries, a soft drink (diet, of course) and who knows what else… the fat and sodium would increase and we are only talking about one meal. This makes a salad, vegetable soup and a baked potato look very appealing to me. How about you?

Think again about what Isaiah said concerning the purchase of foods that are useless to our bodies:

“Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food” (Isaiah 55:2 NLT).
