You are probably familiar with the King James Version of Romans 12:2 which reads;
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
In the J.B. Phillips translation it reads;
“Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould, but let God remake you so that your whole attitude of mind is changed. Thus you will prove in practice that the will of God is good, acceptable to him and perfect.”
I know this scripture is talking about many issues of life but consider what this means in the context of our diet and our health. We should not let the opinions of the world and the restaurants, chefs, food manufacturers, advertisers, nutritional “experts” and the opinions of the medical practitioners squeeze us into their man made foods and man made ideas. Our authority is the Word of God not the word of man. This scripture tells us to let God change us and then we can prove in practice (could this be referring to what we choose to eat) that the will of God is good. We endeavor to be acceptable to Him (not to those around us who entice us) and perfect or mature in our thinking and in our ways.
It is your choice whether or not you will be squeezed into the ways of the world. God has given us clarity about our diet and lifestyle. His Word is always correct and that includes information about our food. Let’s look into the Word and let God renew our minds.
